This Town

The town diner’s still here
But empty lie most of the chairs
Once home to our family mornings
Perhaps some part of that time still lingers there
The park’s still here
They didn’t bother fixing the swing
No one goes there anymore
And the school bells don’t ring

Our memories lie here
The only tales we have to tell
No matter the places we’ve gone
The town’s stayed its spell

Afterall,
Home stays home
At the end of the day
People aren't permanent
But home is here to stay
