Free.

I’m sorry I made you feel that way

But if I had another chance,

I’d probably do it again

And I’m sorry about all the lies I told

It’s amazing how much power these words can hold

But if I had a chance

Maybe I’d do it again

I know I was wrong

But I can’t make amends

This is who I am

This is me

There’s a sinister thrill in being this free.

The Slave Crown

We never really do escape

We rule this world with hallucinated gape

And outside the colours blur

Our vision fails us

Like a failing stupor

Hold steady, not yet can you afford to slip

In the deluded pages of reality

Where you, the Tyrant.

Where you, the Ruler.

Where you, the Governor.

Are but governed by the same restless lips.

Not by your people

Not by their choice

But by those whose smiles

Hide the evils of their voice

You, the Invincible

You, the naive

You, the fool

Can’t help but cave

You act the lord, you are the slave.

Supernovatic

If the stars have a story to tell

Mine have crumbled and fell

Through the haze,

Maybe lies their lies of light

But the haze never clears

So we never know of such a night

It’s written in the stars

So as they break apart

We need not question our fall

It was always meant to be ours

Idealism is a Lie We Inherit

Memories play back in your mind

You’ve now seen shadows that were hidden from the light

You, like them, grieve and swallow

The pain carves you deep, it carves you hollow

What do you wait for

Idealistic advice?

I hope these next lines then do suffice-

Turn away, child, whilst you still can

Live, without question,

In the delusion of man.

Traitor

whose lies have you kept

whose truths have you told

on a table full of cards

you’re the first one to fold

“all in,” you say

but you’re not playing to win

you just have secrets

to give away

secrets of those

who thought you were loyal and kind

secrets of those

you sold out for a penny to a dime

but they too were foolish

they only realize when its too late

when you hear one say

“There’s a traitor in our own,

an imposter in our way.”

Fireflies

The hope is gone

It’s no surprise

We thought in the dark

We’d be fireflies

But all dreams

Are made of  lies

Oops! There goes the busted bubble

Isn’t the feeling nice?

The silver lining

Just blends with the grey

As all ends

Begin to fray

Oh stop

I’m done

Your complaining

Isn’t fun

BECAUSE

Sometimes lies should be told

You never know when they become your truth

You are your own master

You are your own sleuth

So if the silver lining’s

Been painted to grey

just take a bit of white

And wipe it away

Cause the hope is here to stay

Surprise surprise

In the dark

We are fireflies

Obsessed.

I’ll sell you a soul

A penny to the pound

I’ll sell you a life

No one knew was around

There is no scope for compromise

It’s a package deal

All dreams come with a cost-

But yours are simply unreal

You want it all

And you want it fast

But your mindset is corrupt

And your fantasy won’t last.

Matilda

They never read you a story

You were your only gift

They never gave you a second look

As your bond began to drift

But you never cared about

Some fictitious, material dream

You just wanted their attention and love

You just wanted your own self-esteem

As time moves by

They’ve lost their worth in your life

Somethings sound tragic

But Somethings are fine.

The Old Man’s Neology

The truth is in the lies we tell

Our own sad sentiment

The dreams of us growing up, grew old

Came alive, came and went.

We want to have a story to tell

Somebody to tell it to

But tales to tell are only worth the price

They pay to hear us sell it too

And then the dreams come crashing down

We’ve been played the fool

Then do we come to know

We were just a ticking time capsule.

Forever Doesn’t Last

the clock runs slow

over our mortal cast

the burdens of time

and that of our past

each minute we wait in dismay to pass

and then when it’s gone

you realize

forever doesn’t last

the twist in the stories

of the burning books

the lies in the tales

of the holy crooks

each day is taken as a burdensome task

only when it’s gone

you realize

forever doesn’t last
